Zoomin
Zoomin is an India-based photo-sharing and printing site that lets you create and share photo albums via email or Web page (such as the slide show embedded in this posting). The site provides simple uploading and tagging of pictures on your PC, as well as the ability to import photos uploaded on other photo-sharing services, such as Flickr and Picasa. In substance, it reproduces many of the features of those sites, seeking to differentiate itself by printing your albums and making photo calendars, greeting cards and t-shirts for physical delivery.
The site provides widgets for your blog or social network profile that display your photos on Zoomin and those on Flickr and Picasa. Those sites provide the same kind of widgets, as does Slide. Albums can be shared selectively, based on your contacts, which can be imported from various email applications and Web email providers.
Creating the slide show above was quick, taking less than a minute to upload the photos and present the embed code that is pasted into this page. The uploader allows editing of photo names and tagging of individual images during a group upload of many images.
Zoomin also lets you email photos from your mobile phone. During registration, Zoomin asks for your mobile telephone number in exchange for 25 free prints. Sounds good, especially when you read the company’s No Spam promise about “never sending useless SMS,” but it could lead to unexpected texting fees.
