A growing number of companies will host your social life and work. Zoho offers one of the broadest selections of applications for personal and, primarily, professional use. The service is free and requires registration to access documents stored on Zoho in order to provide security for users.

The service offers Web-based (that is, there is no software running on your computer) word processing, spreadsheet, presenation, notetaking and planning applications, among others. The advantage of using the service is that everything you write or record in applications can be shared with anyone who has a Net connection and a Zoho account. You can also host email accounts, run your business and conduct meetings through the Zoho service. The company has also released polling and ecommerce tools.

All of Zoho’s tools are available free, but paid versions of the customer relationship management (a sales tool), project management, online meetings, business and database tools based on the number of users who can collaborate on projects and in meetings. Prices vary for each service.

But for the remote freelancer, Zoho is free to start and you only need to pay when working with others. Meanwhile, the standard business applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets, let members share documents freely at any time, making Zoho, along with Google Documents, one of the most convenient ways to start to work on the Web.
