OutShouts

OutShouts is a service that lets members turn a video into a electronic greeting card that can be sent to friends. It provides an extensive catalog of video from media sources, such as music videos and television network programs or videos posted on Web sites, and displays a list of the cards members create for others to browse and “follow,” or subscribe to.

Surprisingly, one cannot upload their own video to the OutShouts site. Instead, you must upload video to a hosting site, such as YouTube, then import that into OutShout. It would be easier if OutShouts at least facilitated uploading video to a hosting site through its site.

Once a video is selected, the site lets you add an audio message through the microphone on your computer. If you’d like, it can also be recorded by calling a phone number, entering a code that identifies you, and speaking your message. Then, send it via email from the OutShouts site.

e-greeting cards can be private or added to your library for sharing with friends, who can watch the programs through a playlist. OutShouts is still in beta and seems to be gaining users quickly.
