LinkedIn brings the flat global world to you. It enables you to connect with experts in other fields for your projects. It helps you create a larger network that once in existence will be a wellspring of collaborators. You can target people to connect with by geography or position or industry. For example, you might locate CEOs in whatever industry who live in your town and invite them to for lunch with you to explore mutual interests and opportunities. As a management professor, I was surprised at the uses that millenial students found for LinkedIn, like looking up people in positions that they were thinking aiming their career at and then looking over the career paths that had taken those executives there. LinkedIn has myriad groups of people arranged by mutual interests. So, you join an alumni group and connect readily with lots of others from your college. Hmmmm, if you want someone to come in and explain to your people how LinkedIn can be deployed best for your companies purposes let me know.
